19th century blue iron-bound costrel

Description:  An oak iron-bound costrel with the original blue paint.  It has a raised bung hole, a wrought iron bale swing handle, and coopered rings.

Circa 1850, West Country, England.

Provenance:  Unknown.

History:  Costrels would have been attached to a farmworker’s belt and carried ale/cider during harvest time.

Dimensions: 7-1/2″H x 4″ Diameter (narrowest at the top and bottom).

Condition:  Overall, very good with age-appropriate wear.

Repairs/Replacements:  None.
