Description: Eight Gothic tracery panels with quatrefoils, florets, and nulling.

Circa 1460-1480, France.

Provenance: Marhamchurch Antiques.

Dimensions: Largest panel: 19-7/8” H x 9-3/8”L x 1/8”W.  Smallest panel: 19-1/2”H x 8-1/2”L x 3/32”W.

History:  Gothic decoration found in Medieval furniture and architecture, has a strong association with the Catholic church and religion. However, not all Medieval furniture is Gothic in style. Gothic carving is typically crisply and finely executed with regards to the monkish and devotional traditions that motivated the late medieval artistic life. Please refer to Chinnery’s Oak Furniture, The British Tradition. Pages 373-377.

Condition:  Overall, good with age-appropriate wear.

Repairs/Replacements:  A hook has been previously applied to the back of each panel for hanging. Otherwise, none.
